Ananta Padmanabha temple, Chaturmukha Basadi and Bahubali Statue in Karkal (Karnataka)

Karkal is famous for many Hindu and Jain Temples. The video shows some important religious points in Karkal such as Ananta Padmanabha Temple, Padmavati Temple, Chaturmukha Basadi and Bahubali Temple etc.

Ananta Padmanabha temple is a Hindu temple. The main diety of the temple is Lord Vishnu sleeping on the serpant Ananta. This is an ancient temple and is declared as a protected monument by the Archaeological Survey of India. Padmavati temple is there just in front of Ananta Padmanabha temple.

Chaturmukha Basadi is another attraction of Karkal. This is a Jain temple which is built on top of a small hill. You have to climb about a hundred steps to reach the temple on the top. The temple is made of stone and is supported by large number of (108) stone pillars. The temple has four faces. There are images of four Jain saints facing to four different sides. The temple is a beautiful piece of ancient architecturue and is maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India.

The next attraction of Karkal is the statue of Lord Bahubali which is there on top of a small hill. The hill is made of a single stone. You have to climb about 200 steps to reach the statue on the top. The statue of Tyagaveer Bhagavan Bahubali is also made of a single stone. This was the fourth Bahubali statue we visited during our tour. The other three were in Sravan Belagola, Dharmasthala and Venur.
