The Gigantic Bahubali Statue in Venur and Thousand Pillar Temple in Moodavidiri (Karnataka)

From Dharmasthala we went to Venur and then to Moodubidiri. Venur is famous for the large size ancient statue of Bhagavan Bahubali. Bahubali is a famous Jain saint. The statue is there on top of a small hill. The 35 feet monolithic statue is standing on an elevated platform. There is a huge stone pillar at the front and a small temple of lord Shantinath in the compound. The structure is maintained as a protected monument by the Archaeological Survey of India. Generally there are not many visitors. We were the only visitors during the time when we went there. It was the third Bahubali statue in our tour, after visiting two other statues in Sravan Belagola and Dharmasthala.

From Venur we went to Mooduvidiri. Moodavidiri is famous for a Jain temple called Tribhubana Tilaka Chudamani Basadi. This temple is also known as thousand pillar temple. This is a beautiful stone made ancient temple. It was a great spiritual satisfaction to visit this temple.
