The big banyan tree (or dodda aladamara udyana) is a about 28 kms from bangalore. In Kannada language, “dodda” means “big” and “aladamara” means “banyan tree”. This place can be accessed either from Magadi road or Mysore road. I visited the place with my mom. This big banyan tree is supposed to be 500 years old. This tree has thousands of roots and branches spread over 3 acres of land. This is the fourth largest banyan tree in India. There is a small temple of lord Shiva called “Munishwar temple” inside the campus.
