Kalahatti falls is there on Chandrodrana hills on the way while going from Chikmangalur to Kemangundi (10 kms from from Kemangundi and 250 kms from Bangalore). Water is continuously falling from the hill. Kalahatti means black elephant. The place is called kalahatti because the stone near the waterfall looks like a black elephant. As per legends Maharshi Agastya had done penance at this place. There is a small cave temple of lord Virabhadreswar near the waterfall. People take bath in the river and have darshan of the god there in the temple. Bathing was a great experience in the waterfall. The place is safe to take bath. But the force of water was horrible. I also enjoyed bathing in the waterfall.
