After visiting Mosale we headed towards Doddagaddavalli on
our way to Belur. Doddagaddavalli is a village about 5 kms west from Hasan
Belur Main road. Doddagadavalli is famous for Laxmi Devi temple. There is an
idol of Lord Narayana in front of Goddess Laxmi. Apart from the temples of
Laxmi and Narayana, there are also temples of Lord Shiva (Bhootanatha) and
Parvati (Kaali).

The temple is about 1000 years old and reflects the same
architecture of Hoyasala period as in Belur and Halebid. There is a 7 feet tall
wall around the four sides of the temple. There are four smaller shrines at the
four sides attached to the boundary wall. This is known to be the earliest temple
built in Hoyasala style. You can see the statue of lion which is the symbol of
Hoyasala kingdom on the top of the temple. The temple is maintained by the
Archaeological Survey of India as a protected monument.
