Charminar is the most important monument of Hyderabad. It
was constructed by the Qutb Shahi rulers during sixteenth century. Charminar is
maintained by the Archeological survey of India and is open to public on all
days from 9 AM to 5 PM for a nominal entry fee. There is a small Hindu temple
called Bhagyalaxmi temple at the base of the fort. There is a narrow staircase
through which you can climb to the first floor of the fort. The fort is very
interesting to see from inside. A mosque is located on the top of the roof. The
other part of the roof was used as a count by the Qutb Shahi rulers. It was
very interesting to see the beautiful views of the ciry of Hyderabad from the
top of the fort. We could see the
beautiful Mecca Masjid which is located nearby from the top of Charminar.
Charminar is not only important for Hyderabad but for the whole Andhra Pradesh and
even for the whole South India. It is a must visit for everybody going to
Hyderabad.
