Yagachi dam is about 8 kms from Belur on Belur-Chikmangalur
main road. The dam is built on river Yagachi, a tributary of river Cauvery. The
dam is built recently in 2004. It supplies water for irrigation in Hassan and
Chikmangalur district. The water flowing on the river gives a magnificient
view. There is also a beautiful garden by the side of the dam. We took a drive
from Belur to visit the dam. As this is on the opposite route of Halebid, we
had to return back from the dam and take the other route for Halebid. If you
have extra time after visiting Belur and Halebid, it is a good idea to spend an
hour to visit this dam.
