Kanakadurga temple is the most popular temple in Vijaywada.
It is a very ancient temple built on top of Indra kiladri hill on the bank of
River Krishna. There are several busses run by the temple to carry devotees
from the bottom of the hill to the temple on the top all free of cost. We also
went to the hill by the temple bus. The temple looks beautiful with golden
coating. Goddesh Kanaka durga is a 4 feet high idol, shown to have eight arms
and holding different weapons on each of these arms. Apart from goddess
Kanakadurga, there are also temples of lord Malleswara and lord Ganesh etc. As
per the legend the temple was built by Arjuna who prayed lord shiva on top of
this hill. You can get beautiful views of Vijaywada city from the top of the
hill. While coming back we visited Anjaneya swamy temple on the way. It was a
great spiritual trip in Vijaywada.
