Haaji Ali Dargah is actually located inside the sea about half km from the sea shore. As you can see in the video the Dargha looks very prominent as there is no other building near to it. It is surrounded by mud and water at all sides except just one road connecting it to the main land. The connecting road is submerged in water during high tide. Thus the Dargah is connected and disconnected to the main land twice on every day. You can go to the dargah only when there is low tide.
Before there is high tide there is announcement for people to leave Dargah and go to the main land of Mumbai. Then the Dargah remains disconnected from the land for about 4 hours during the period of high tide. This unique scene makes it impressive for the religious believers.
This is a Muslim religious place, both a mosque and a tomb. However this place is open to the people of all religions. Thousands of people of different religions visit this place. Many devotees say they have got miraculous results by the grace of this holy shrine. Many Bollywood films are shot here. This is an important tourist attraction and a must visit for anybody going to Mumbai.
