Rudraprayag is an important tourist hub from where you can go to Kedarnath and Badrinath. Rudraprayag is 70 kms from Devprayag and 165 kms from Haridwar. It is situated on Himalayan Mountains about 650 meters above sea level. We visited Rudraprayag twice during our Chardham tour.
Rudraprayag is one of the five prayags on Himalayas. As per Hindu belief, bathing in prayags is considered to be very auspicious. We went to the bathing ghat in Rudraprayag. Rudraprayag is famous for the confluence of river Mandakini and Alakananda. I and my mom took bath in the holy river. Though there was high current in the river, bathing was safe because of the bathing platforms. There is a huge Shiva statue near the bathing ghat. Besides there is a Hanuman temple on the other side of the river. The river view is quite interesting in Rudra prayag and is really worth visiting.
