Visiting Kedarnath on Himalayas (Part-1)

Kedarnath is considered as one of the 12 Jyotirlingas. Kedarnath is situated at an altitude of 3585 meters above sea level. The temple is closed for 6 months during winter and opened for 6 months during summer. We had to go a 14 kms trekking from Gourikund to reach Kedarnath. It was a great moment of satisfaction when we first saw the famous temple in front of us. The temple is very ancient and is believed to be built by the Pandavas after the Mahabharat war.

The climate of Kedarnath is extremely cold because of its height. We stayed in a hotel very near to the temple. We visited the famous kedarnath temple and also participated in evening aarati. The temple of Kedarnath is at the foot of snow peaked mountains. Anybody who sees the views of Kedarnath will automatically believe that the place is meant for the dwelling of God.
