Japanese Peace Pagoda is located on the top of an elevation and therefore needs a lot of climbing (from Darjeeling bus stand) to reach there. We walked for more than an hour to reach there. This is established by a Buddhist monk Nichidatsu Fujii, who pledged for non-violence after the bombing of Hirosima in 1945. This stupa was constructed during 1972-1992. When you enter into the premises, there is a buddha temple and a pillar. The guruji inside the temple allowed us to take pictures inside the temple. After the temple there is the beautiful stupa (Pagoda). As the stupa is located at significant height you can get beautiful views of the surroundings and mount kanchanjunga from here. This is one of the best places to visit in Darjeeling.
