The Samten Choling Gompa (monastery) is on the way from Darjeeling (8 kms) to Ghoom (half km). The Monastery was founded by Domo Geshe Rinpoche. Many monks also live inside this monastery. This gompa is on the main Hill Cart Rd and many people organise to visit on the way back from Tiger Hill. Generally we do not take photograhs inside the monasteries. But here we saw everybody were taking pictures. So we were tempted to take pictures too. You can see the beautiful buddha idol and other beautiful idols worsihiped inside the temple. There is a large prayer wheel in front of the main temple at the side of the entrance. There is also another monastery (Sakya monastery) in between this monastery and ghoom.
