Visiting Tiger Hills (Darjeeling)

Tiger Hill is the top-most point -an elevation of 2,590m (8482 ft) -in its immediate surroundings. It is about 13 kms from Darjeeling and 5 kms from Ghoom. Most people visit there in early morning (3- 3.30 AM) to see sun rise. There is a watch tower on the top of the hill to view sun rise. The tickets in watch tower are sold at 20 rs ground floor and 40 rs top floor etc. There is no ticket to view it from the sorrounding of the tower. As we went in the afternoon there was no crowd. As this is located at great height you can see mount kanchanjunga very clearly from this place. Besides Kalimpong, gangtok and other distant places are also visible from here. There are two beautiful temples on the tiger hills, Hanuman temple on one side of the road and Senchal Singha Devi temple on the other side (both front to front). The road from Ghoom to tiger hill is snaky and full of large Himalayan trees.
